A holiday let for 4 full of granite and wood with new & very efficient log burner. Some electricity free of charge and an energy log boiler. Well behaved dogs welcome. It's  a good cheap and cheerful cottage where a baby is welcome.High-chair, cot, stair gate and babysitting on offer. And no charge at all for up to 2 dogs. For very reasonable prices, these cottages offer ideal accommodation for walking, hiking, cycling or riding holidays. Dogs are welcome and stabling is available should you wish to bring your own horse(s). Open moorland is within a ten-minute walk. Tavistock, a historic market town, is 3 miles away, and Peter Tavy, the nearby village, has a 15th Century inn serving good food....

The Hemphouse has a delightful open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area, fronted with beautiful windows looking out over the valley towards Brentor. Situated in a smallholding where Chris and Ruth have their own chickens, goats, horses and sheep and lead a very sustainable way of life.  The Hemphouse has one single bedroom downstairs, with an en suite toilet and shower room. This room also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the landing area is bookended by a double bedroom on one end, and a twin bedroom on the other. There is one upstairs bathroom with sink, toilet and bath. “These are basic, without frills, solid and worthy lets. The curtains may well be slightly faded, but the welcome from Ruth and Chris is completely genuine. They want you to share their way of life, get close to their much loved livestock, go out and discover Dartmoor for yourself. Stay here and you will have a taste of the Good Life"

This barn conversion with good views gets plenty of repeat bookings. Room for 6 plus a baby. Ruth Boswell told me that the barn is very family friendly rather than chic accommodation, and looking at the prices I see that it is very competitively priced. The highest charge in the school holidays is just £678and as low as £304 in low season. Babysitting on offer and stair gate, highchair and cot on request. Bed linen is included in the price but towels are extra. Some electricity (90 units) is included in the rental then charged.

Langstone Manor Holiday Cottages, near Tavistock, Dartmoor Langstone Manor Holiday Park

Langstone Manor Holiday Park has two 5-star holiday cottages, an upstairs apartment in the manor house  and a fleet of stylish static holiday homes all  located in the grounds of a small, family run holiday park just on the outskirts of Tavistock and offers walks directly on to the Moor.  You you will benefit from the onsite Langstone Bar for evening meals and a relaxing drink (seasonal opening times).  Maple and Honeysuckle Cottage both offer three bedrooms (two doubles), Maple Cottage even has a four poster if you are looking for something extra special.  The apartment, Pew Tor is upstairs in the manor house and has been completely modernised transforming it into a spacious, light and airy apartment with open plan living. The static caravans all have 2 bedrooms and can sleep up to 6 people with 2 bedrooms and a pullout bed in the lounge.

Maple and Honeysuckle cottages offer home from home spacious holiday accommodation with their own gardens where you can relax and enjoy a barbecue on a lazy summer's afternoon.

Both cottages have three bedrooms, two doubles (Maple has a four poster bed) and a twin room. Upstairs are bathrooms with bath, shower and toilet, Honeysuckle has an en suite to one of the doubles, whilst Maple has a downstairs toilet.

Harford Bridge Park, near Tavistock Harford Bridge Holiday Lodges

2 bedroom and 3 bedroom timber clad lodges in this quiet quality campsite in a most picturesque setting alongside the River Tavy. A delightful family run site which has 125 pitches for camping and touring caravans, some static caravans and these 2 upmarket lodges. I went along to see inside them on a cold January day and was very impressed. They are modern, warm and spacious, light and spotlessly clean. Very swish indeed. Well equipped with everything from microwave to outside folding chairs to make the most of the relaxing verandah. Cox Tor has a family bathroom with shower and bath, and there is an en-suite shower room in the double bedroom. Electricity and bed linen included - just bring your own towels and tea towels. The kids will love the playpark and the riverbank. Everyone loves the resident ducks. Fly fishing available.

Luxury caravans for hire on an Award winning campsite on the banks of the River Tavy. All centrally heated and double glazed. Excellent quality campsite for families, just 2 and a half miles out of Tavistock. No slot machines here. Play park and the riverbank for children to explore. Fishing for Dad on offer. Up to date caravans and a beautiful Shepherd's hut if you want to go 'glamping' or as the owner prefers to call it 'comfortable camping'. Some caravans take dogs, some don't. Exercise field for dogs. Reception with free wifi, small array of provisions including fresh milk, papers and the all important ice creams!!

All holiday caravans are 12ft wide and a minimum of 35ft long with central heating & double glazing.  All self-catering accommodation at Harford Bridge Park is available for year round holiday use. Short breaks available Friday to Monday (3 nights) & Monday to Friday (4 nights);  7 night stays may start on a Friday, Saturday or a Monday.

Woodland Springs is a caravan and camping site set in the Dartmoor National Park in Devon, England. They are exclusively for adults (18+) and cater for caravans, motor homes and tents up to 8.5m in length (28 feet). Paradise for hyperactive kids of all ages. Campers who stay on the caravan park have free access to the adventure park which is bursting with Commando Assault course (for big and little children!), Pirate Ship, Toddlers beach, Toddlers Playground (Lilliput), Spiders web, Wooden play fort, Cows Udders, Snake Slides, Zip wires and Jungle Fun. Plenty of supervised play plus canoeing and Water Zorbs. Go for it !! Not that they welcome noisy teenagers. Lowertown Farm, a 93 acre working farm sits nestled in a valley in the heart of Dartmoor, where a peaceful walk can take you from the top of Blackator to the banks of the River Dart through gorgeous wooded paths and winding country lanes.
