Totally Dartmoor. Small privately run bed and breakfast couldn't be more central on Dartmoor. An excellent choice for walkers. This delightful detached split-level barn conversion that can sleep up to 8, + baby/small child, nestles next to the church in Mary Tavy.  The tranquil setting is only a few minutes walk from the River Tavy and the breathtaking rugged beauty of Dartmoor, and in the other direction, a good pub with delicious food.  There are lovely walks from the cottage, and from the car if you drive over the moors. The accommodation offers a double bedroom, a double/twin (zip-linked), and a twin room, plus double sofabed with everyday-use mattress, and a cot/small bed.  There are 2 bathrooms: - The main bathroom with a shower over the bath, and the small bathroom, which has a corner toilet and studio bath, is built into the eaves of the house.   Sloping ceilings and dormer windows give a clue to its former use as a row of barns.  All bed linen and towels provided free.  Oil CH/HW included, and free WiFi.  The sunken patio has furniture and BBQ, and there is a second raised patio with table and chairs, as well as a bike storage area.  Guests are very welcome to use the owners' garden.  We are very dog friendly, and pets are free-of-charge. Enjoy the peace, watching the birds feeding at the bird table in the mornings, and gazing at the stars on a clear night, perhaps while enjoying a glass on wine on the sunken patio.  Away from the Barn, there is lots do in this lovely area of Devon, from theme parks to waterfalls, castles to cream teas, ponies to steam railways and boat trips, gardens to zip-wires or canoeing.  Route 27 of the Sustrans Coast to Coast cycle route is right outside the gate, and the track leading to the bridge over the river Tavy is also a bridle path. Bikes can be hired locally, and there are riding stables on the edge of the village for novice or experienced riders to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the saddle. There is something for everyone!

The Elephant's Nest Inn is a quintessentially English - and Devonshire - country pub.  The 3 generously sized en-suite B&B rooms are located in a newly built extension.  Beautifully furnished with solid oak floors and under floor heating, all rooms have large Vi-Spring beds, soft goosedown duvets and pillows and luxurious soft furnishings. Being located in as remote a place as it is, great emphasis is placed on good food, although the pretentious 'gastro pub' description will not be heard here! The garden at the Nest is a 'must see'.

The newly built extension respects the original 16th century pub in both proportion and use of materials with the exterior clad in local stone. However inside they have some of the most up-to-date facilities in three generously sized rooms each with it’s own en- suite bath or shower room.
