Located about 200 yards up the hillside from Dartmeet, hidden amid trees up a private drive, a handsome granite semi-detached cottage, built in 1893 and part of an estate purchased by the current owner from HRH Prince Charles who leased it to the owner of Plymouth Gin. Herb Cottage, once the gardener's, is attached to Bentley Cottage, once the chauffeur's. Twelve acres of woods and meadows (bluebells in spring) to explore, stretching to the river (private salmon/trout fishing). Gardens surround the cottage with, at the back, a large meadow with patio (table/chairs, barbecue), leading directly to open moorland.
Inside, attractive and comfortable. Porch; hall; good-sized living room (woodburner, TV/DVD/video); reading room with door to garden and 3 steps up to kitchen/dining room (washing machine, microwave, fridge-freezer, electric cooker). Upstairs, three bedrooms – a big double (5’ Victorian bed) with 3 steps up (low ceiling) to en suite shower-room (suite), another double with 3 steps up to en suite bathroom (suite plus hand-shower), and 2 steps down to a little single (no heating; use of en suite bathrooms only). Spring water. Game or rough shooting, by arrangement. Best for maximum of 4 adults.A superbly secluded situation for walking, tor-climbing, riverside picnicking or just soaking up the scenery.
