2 miles from Widecombe-in-the-Moor, down 700 yards of private drive, are six cottages around a courtyard, superbly converted from an Edwardian 'model farm' and with direct access to open moorland. At the front, each cottage has its own private outdoor space (table/chairs) looking to open grassy moorland through which runs the Becka Brook to Emsworthy Nature Reserve (700 yards, rare plants and wildlife) and Dartmoor farmland beyond. Spring water and privately generated electricity. Satellite internet access suitable for browsing/email only. A fantastic place for star-gazing, relaxing and finding your own space.
Hay Tor Cottage is single-storey with uninterrupted panoramic views to Haytor from every window. Inside, exposed granite walls, high beams, slate floors (rugs). From courtyard, stable doors to hall; huge open-plan living/dining/kitchen (dishwasher, washer-drier, microwave, fridge-freezer, oil-fired range cooker – no other cooker) with oak fitted units, and living area with woodburner, TV/DVD, stable doors to patio. Three bedrooms, all with those fabulous views – the master double (6’ zip-linked bed or twin) with en suite shower-room (suite), and two further doubles (5’ beds). Generous bathroom (suite with over-sized bath plus hand-shower).
Reviews
A beautiful cottage with views straight out on to the moor. We could lie in bed and watch the sun rise over Hay Tor. Absolutely perfect. We will definitely be booking again.
