With a classic English menu encompassing modern twists, our restaurant at Mill End is a highlight for both new and returning guests for its seasonally changing menus, beautifully presented dishes, and excellent value for money.

The quality of the food, including free range eggs, vegetables and the finest of beef is the result of Devon itself, with its extensive range of high quality local produce and the freshest of fish caught of the Devon and Cornish coasts.

The team in the kitchen, led by head chef Robert Gibson, is committed to using all the local area can offer from fabulous and varied cheeses, wonderful beef, lamb and pork, and superb game.

We also renowned for our fabulous Devon Cream Teas, best enjoyed in our lounge in front of the log fire, or in warmer weather in our gardens here at Mill End.

I’m a young and passionate chef, with bags of enthusiasm!  Over the years I have had the pleasure of working with some of the best chefs in the South West, and have taken their inspiration to guide me in developing memorable dining experiences at Mill End.

My passion lies in simplicity – great seasonal ingredients from local suppliers, cooked with care and presented with flair.

With a background in fine dining, my aim is to achieve balanced and appealing dishes, without pretentiousness.

We aim to home-produce as much as possible – for the best quality, and to reduce “food miles”.  Our delicious cakes, traditional Devon scones, breads, soups, sauces and accompaniments are produced in our own kitchens – and we use herbs from our gardens when in season.  Even our bottled water is produced in-house, using a sophisticated seven-stage filtration and purification system.

Our cheese board offers a tempting choice of West Country cheeses (and we have some excellent Ports and dessert wines to round off your meal).

We offer vegetarian options of course, and it is our pleasure to cater for any special dietary requirements – just let us know, and we will tailor our dishes accordingly

We have a carefully-chosen wine list to complement your meal. Our list includes fine wines from around the world, as well as something more local from Devon’s Sharpham Vineyard on the beautiful River Dart.

Breakfast at Mill End is always well received, with our continental breakfast buffet and a comprehensive selection of hot breakfast dishes cooked to order (including the “Full English” of course) to start your day in the best possible way.
