Guest Blog by Sophia Randall from Lower Willsworthy - March 2015
Sophia from Lower Willsworthy says ' I have been lucky enough to ride in many beautiful locations but none
as spectacular and diverse as Dartmoor.
As Steven Spielberg said whilst filming War Horse:
"I have never before, in my long and eclectic career, been gifted with such an abundance of natural beauty as I experienced
filming War Horse on Dartmoor... And, with two-and-a-half weeks of extensive coverage of landscapes and skies,
I hardly scratched the surface of the visual opportunities offered to me." -Steven Spielberg.
Dartmoor offers something for every rider. Whether you are looking to have a good gallop or just looking for a relaxing time.
For the more adventurous rider there are day long expeditions, taking in many spectacular locations,
including those featured in War Horse. One thing is for sure, you won’t be disappointed with the views!
With plenty of trekking centres dotted around the moor, there are a wide variety of riding opportunities
offered for all abilities, even those that have never ridden before. We are also blessed with some lovely country pubs for après riding.
For those that can’t bear to be parted from their four legged friends on holiday, there are many places that offer luxury accommodation
for you and your horse. I don’t think there is any better therapy than jumping on a horse and riding across the moor!
