Welcome to the White Hart Hotel in the heart of Dartmoor
The White Hart Hotel is a traditional old posting house at the centre of the small moorland town of Moretonhampstead set within the spectacular Dartmoor National Park.
A hotel with history, real ales and great food
The Hotel dates back to 1639 and this historic Grade II listed building is being sympathetically refurbished to provide all modern comforts within a traditional setting. The comfy sofa-filled lounge has a roaring log fire where you can relax and combine the delights of a traditional cream tea with the convenience of free wi-fi.
Explore beautiful Devon
An ideal base from which to explore this beautiful area of Devon, the White Hart has 20 well-appointed bedrooms in the main hotel and a further eight in a separate mews building.
The restaurant features the freshest local, seasonal produce cooked in a style that lets the quality of the ingredients speak for themselves. A free house, they stock a range of local real ales and have a hand-picked wine list.
Dogs welcome too!
Dogs and Dartmoor go together. Dartmoor is great walking country and dogs are welcome everywhere in the hotel, except in the dining room.
The White Hart Hotel has a flexible range of accommodation that makes it perfect for a family holiday, a romantic weekend break or just a quick escape to the country. Dogs are welcome too, at no extra charge.
Some of the superior bedrooms are large enough to accommodate a ‘z-bed’ or sleeper couch suitable for children. Please discuss this when booking and they'll be happy to make arrangements.
B&B or dinner B&B – the choice is yours
Whether you want a dinner, bed and breakfast package or simply B&B, the White Hart Hotel can cater for your needs.
If you are likely to arrive at the hotel after 11pm, please let them know as they do not have 24-hour porterage. Once they know your arrival time they will ensure staff are available to welcome you and check you in.
White Hart Hotel rooms
En-suite bedrooms individually decorated
Within the main building, the White Hart has a range of 20 individually decorated en-suite bedrooms all with CD players, flat screen TVs and tea and coffee making facilities.
Relax and enjoy
Tastefully furnished, no two rooms are the same, reflecting the architecture of this historic building with its interesting nooks and corners. Most rooms have baths as well as showers, so you can really relax at the end of a busy day’s walking or sightseeing.
The White Hart Mews – ideal for families or groups
The Mews is a contemporary conversion of an old building, 60m away from the main hotel – ideal for families or groups as it can be booked as a separate unit.
The Mews has eight rooms with an open plan communal lounge area – four rooms on the ground floor and four on the top. Two of the ground floor bedrooms are linked giving even more flexibility.
