About

There’s nothing like first-hand experience to recommend a place or an event. Being fortunate enough to live within the Dartmoor National Park ourselves, we have built up a wealth of knowledge of where to find the best, the most original or the most fun and share that knowledge on our website to help you have a great time when you visit.

Wherever we go we are always thinking “Ah, that would make a good place to recommend,” or “I’m sure people would love to visit this event!” and we like to pass on news and developments as well as recommendations through our regular blogs.

If you discover somewhere or something you think is really great and should be shared – why not drop us a line at … and we’ll go and take a look.

The first thing I must do here is to apologise to Christine Staniland the owner for just dropping in on her without making an appointment. I was in the area visiting a self catering cottage and tried ringing her before I set …

Pat and Dave were somewhat reticent about me taking photos when I visited them in November 2011, so I offered to let them view my shots prior to uploading this review onto the net and they were happy with that arrangement. I …

I can imagine that this private patio at the back of the let is the perfect space to relax on a sunny day. What a shame that it was a grey day when Rob and I called in to visit Wilson Cottage at Mary Tavy, as the photos don't do it justice

It's not often that Rob and I go off to see one of the local attractions and come home so full of praise. Today we went along to The Dart River Country Park just to take a few shots simply to improve the look of the Park's vo…

If anyone asked me right now, where would you like to stay for a few days on Dartmoor? It would be Prince Hall. I paid a visit in May this year to take some photos for Fi and Chris and this was my first visit for some time. …

I loved Lobhill Farmhouse the minute I arrived there. Despite my being ten minutes overdue, Jane Colwill made nothing of it and welcomed me into her charming home. Over coffee in her country kitchen we found we had a lot in c…

Quite frankly, I don't know how Mavis Bickle fits all that work in. Her welcoming farmhouse B&B is as tidy indoors as it is out. Her large garden is very well tended and has an absolutely superb private view across beautiful…

Hilary the owner of the Coach House at Pitt Park in Widecombe is not too keen on this photo, she prefers one that has the drive that you can't see behind the snowdrops, but I think it shows the granite cottage off rather well…
