About

There’s nothing like first-hand experience to recommend a place or an event. Being fortunate enough to live within the Dartmoor National Park ourselves, we have built up a wealth of knowledge of where to find the best, the most original or the most fun and share that knowledge on our website to help you have a great time when you visit.

Wherever we go we are always thinking “Ah, that would make a good place to recommend,” or “I’m sure people would love to visit this event!” and we like to pass on news and developments as well as recommendations through our regular blogs.

If you discover somewhere or something you think is really great and should be shared – why not drop us a line at … and we’ll go and take a look.

Often you will find hotel restaurant menus either bland, limited or a bit repetitive, but this is definitely not the case with the Brasserie menu in the historic Woburn Restaurant at The Bedford Hotel in Tavistock.

Intrigued by Tavistock’s newest fine dining restaurant based on a steampunk theme – we felt that we needed to pay it a visit to see what it’s all about, especially when it had been recommend by our local butcher (thanks Duncan at Palmers).

Jill Pendelton, the previous owner of Dartmoor Accommodation was a regular visitor to Mill End as it was just next door, however since taking ownership of the website in 2014 I had not had the pleasure of eating at the hotel, however after a call earlier in the year from Tara that has now all...

The Two Bridges Hotel enjoys the most wonderful setting in the heart of Dartmoor, perched on the banks of the beautiful West Dart River. Whatever time of year, the surrounding moorland guarantees an atmospheric arrival at this historic hotel. Last Sunday evening I was joined by Moss and her owner Julia for dinner. It was misty and mysterious when we arrived, and the Hotel’s log fires and gleaming...

I was delighted to be asked back to Cranks Kitchen at Dartington to review their new winter menu, unfortunately I couldn't make it but my trusted foodie friend, Julia, was up for the challenge! For those of us non-vegetarians, the prospect of dining at such a long-established and famous veggie restaurant can seem a little daunting… But fear not you carnivores! Cranks is everything that is good...
