Whether you are looking for a relaxing break, or a base to explore the surrounding countryside, come and stay in this ancient barn at the very end of a single track road deep in the heart of Dartmoor National Park.
Two famous footpaths, the Two Moors Way and the Mariner’s Way, pass close by offering access to the open moorland and the surrounding Dartmoor villages. Enjoy a hearty pub lunch in one of the local Inns maybe ?
Lower Hookner Barn is nestled in the heart of the Dartmoor National Park, in a peaceful and rural hamlet. We are situated on the Two Moors Way, and have easy access on to the moor which of course offers amazing walking, stunning scenery, peace, quiet and tranquility.
With no light pollution, the skies at night are truly beautiful; by day you will be able to hear the neighbouring farms’ cows, sheep and guinea-fowl! We have our own hens who will be delighted to provide you with eggs for breakfast, and we also have other four-legged members of the family who will be delighted to meet you!
Lower Hookner, though rural, is very easily accessible with the scenic village of North Bovey being just a mile away. Chagford and Moretonhampstead are within 10 minutes each and offer lots of shopping and eateries. If you want to step back into city-life, Exeter and Plymouth are also nearby.
