Hidden away within a magical valley in the Dartmoor countryside, Great Sloncombe Farm is rural but not remote. They are only 5 miles from the A30, 1.5 miles from the small town of Moretonhampstead and 3 miles from Chagford. They are also only a 5 minute drive from the open moor. This traditional working farm provides a high standard of Bed &Breakfast accommodation, in 3 en-suite bedrooms with a friendly and informal atmosphere. 

Breakfasts are delicious and plentiful farmhouse fare served on pretty Royal Stafford Hedgerow china. Salt glazed serving bowls and jugs are from the local pottery in Moretonhampstead.

Everything is freshly cooked to order & wherever possible food is home produced or locally sourced. Sausages are usually homemade from their pigs or sourced locally and tomatoes grown in season in the greenhouse by Helen. Newly laid dark brown eggs are picked up daily from our Welsummer hens. Artisan home made or locally sourced bread is also provided.

Picnics can be made up for you in their rucksack cool bags complete with cutlery & plates-hire our mountain bikes and have an environmentally friendly day!

The pretty bedrooms:

Barley:  A pine window seat is a favourite perch to watch the wildlife in the meadow. The brass king sized bed and rustic pine furniture add to the farmhouse atmosphere and the Victorian fire place provides the focal point within this large room. There is an en-suite shower, toilet & basin through a small old doorway.

Clover:  Meadow views are seen from the recessed window of this versatile room. Beds can be super king double or twin on request. The room is cosy, spacious and bright. Polished pine furniture and old china adds to the country feel of this pretty room. Through a low doorway is a large en-suite shower, toilet & basin.

Cornflower: This large & attractive suite has a four poster, framed with blue toile drapes and a single bed within. The dressing room has a large polished pine wardrobe and chest of drawers providing ample storage. The en-suite has a large shower & a non-slip floor. The view from the window is of the meadow and winding lane that leads to the farm & the other window overlooks our productive kitchen garden.

All bedrooms have:

Equine....

Trudie and Helen live in a fantastic area for riding –both on the open moor, bridlepaths and tracks which they regularly ride and carriage drive themselves. Stabling and turnout for your horse can be provided & suggestions on routes for day & half day rides. It is also great for carriage driving and undercover secure storage can be available for your carriage and equipment.

Stabling & turnout - £12 per horse per day including bedding.

& Canine....

Such wonderful walks in the area for dogs –they have four!-so they welcome well trained & behaved dogs only in one bedroom, for which there is a charge of £5 per night. Please bring their bed & all requirements. They ask that they are clean and dry as possible when they come into the house - there is an outside hosepipe & stable for washing & drying muddy dogs. Dogs are not to be left in the room unattended but put in the car during breakfast. Please do not let them on the furniture or bed & take particular care to keep the room as clean as possible as they are maintained to a high standard.. Please also clean up after your dog. Alternatively they can be accommodated in a comfortable loosebox.
