  • Dartmoor’s Daughter creates walks and nature connection experiences to improve physical health, emotional wellbeing, and mental acuity. We work with a range of different experts to offer guided walks and activities for adults, families, and children that include Navigation training; Nature Trails; Letterboxing; Painting & Sketching; Dowsing for Earth Energies; Wild Foods & Foraging; Mindfulness; Tracking, Astronomy evenings; Flora & Fauna; History & Archaeology; Ceremony and many more. Private guided walks, facilitated outdoor activities, and team days for groups, birthday events are also available. Anyone who joins our walks and events report a greater sense of wellbeing as well enjoyment, fun and learning.
  • The Dartmoor School of Fly Fishing offers guided fly fishing on the Upper Teign and on the East and West Dart Rivers at £90 for a half day and £150 for a full day.
  • Experience Dartmoor with a unique tour from the luxury of a 6-seater Land Rover. Tich your local guide will take you to some of the hidden treasures of Dartmoor in the comfort of a deluxe Land Rover. There will be chances to stop at some of the local beauty spots and perhaps purchase a few local gifts and produce

  • Eastern White Barrow
  • This is where you will find England's highest waterfall with a huge 220 foot drop. Nature and wildlife trails. Walks through woodland, wetlands, lakes and park land including an assault course and caterpillar swing. Play areas for children. Café. BBQs in summer. Cream teas. Gift shop. Dogs on leads are welcome. Free Parking.
  • A great place for young children with activities such as feeding the animals, pony grooming, collecting the eggs, pony rides, putting the donkeys to bed at the end of the afternoon, and the pets corner is a delight for children of all ages.   • Moretonhampstead Motor Museum is home to a collection of over 120 vintage and classic vehicles including cars, motorcycles and light commercials from pre-1920s to the 1990s, plus motoring artefacts and automobilia. It is a great all-weather attraction
  • Cranmere Pool Letter Box
  • An enchanting garden nestled in the beautiful Torridge Valley. Surrounded by woodland, the garden is rich in variety throughout every season and features inspiring planting displays enhanced by the natural beauty of North Devon.
  • Dartmoor Zoo is the zoo that the Hollywood film starring Matt Damon and Scarlett Johannson is based upon. in 33 acres of beautiful woodland with some stunning views of the surrounding countryside and a fantastic collection of animals, Dartmoor Zoo is a unique family day out in the beautiful South Hams of Devon. Immerse yourself in a fun day out with the kids: see the big cats feed, hear the wolves howl and feel the snakes wriggle through your fingers in Close Encounters. Follow the daily timetable of events including public talks at feeding times and animal encounters, with falconry displays and kids activities during the holidays such as quiz-trails and face-painting. And when you need a rest, visit the Jaguar Restaurant for a freshly prepared lunch or a hot drink and delicious cake made right here on site.

  • You can easily spend the whole day on the South Devon Railway because they're far more than a train ride!   • Cholwell Riding Stables at Mary Tavy, situated between Okehampton and Tavistock and with direct access to rides across Dartmoor. Novice and experienced riders taken, qualified tuition, hard hats. Experienced escorts open all year. 1 hour ride £22, 90 minutes ride £31 and a 2 hour ride is £40.

  • The National Trust property Castle Drogo is at Drewsteignton where the Gardens are open all year. Do see the gardens in the Autumn when they are full of rich colour. There is an interesting seed collection day each year, when the Castle gardeners explain how to do just that later on in the year. You need to bring envelopes! Find the date on my what's on page.   • Open this year from 23rd May to early September, this is the largest outdoor, freshwater swimming pool in Devon. The temperature of the water is maintained with solar pool covers. It is just 10 minutes walk from Chagford town centre and a few minutes drive from the A30. There is a small tea hut with snacks and Lifeguards always in attendance. There is a special pool for babies and young children and all children under 9 MUST be accompanied by an adult. Please be sure to check the pool's website for admission fees and opening times.
  • Canoeing, Indoor Climbing, Mega Zip Wire, High Ropes Course, a fun and exciting tree top challenge. Beautiful parkland, all 90 acres of it. Toddler's beach, assault course, Spider's Web to climb on, Jungle fun, wooden play fort to climb and whatever you do don't miss the pirate ship!
