  • The Dartmoor School of Fly Fishing offers guided fly fishing on the Upper Teign and on the East and West Dart Rivers at £90 for a half day and £150 for a full day.
  • The National Trust property Castle Drogo is at Drewsteignton where the Gardens are open all year. Do see the gardens in the Autumn when they are full of rich colour. There is an interesting seed collection day each year, when the Castle gardeners explain how to do just that later on in the year. You need to bring envelopes! Find the date on my what's on page.   • World of Country Life is Devon’s GOLD award winning family day out, whatever the weather! There are over 2 acres indoors with loads to do: crawl through the themed soft play areas, whizz round the mini electric go kart track, get up close to the animals in the nursery and petting centre, climb aboard the good ship Lady Suzannah in the pirate ship play area while mum and dad have a rest in the indoor beach hut, tuck into some tasty home cooked food in the brand new themed restaurant, watch the daily ferret racing show in the Barnyard Theatre, explore the past in the museum of farm machinery, take a trip down memory lane in the Victorian street, cruise around the south west’s largest collection of vintage vehicles in the Hall of Transport (and see vehicles that have appeared on TV in Downton Abbey, Mr Selfridge and Parade’s End) and view the famous Reg Imray motorcycle collection. There’s so much fun, come rain or shine: can you do it all in a day?!

Enjoy true exploration of the wild landscape and historic villages while your driver regales you with stories of witchcraft and mythical creatures. Please wear sensible walking shoes, warm and weatherproof outer clothing and don't forget your camera! Tours start at 09:00 and usually finish around 17:00
  • Free entry to see lots of interesting crafty pieces of art. They have a cafe on the first floor.

  • An outdoor pursuits centre with many strings to its bow; Camp Mawazo caters for birthday parties, team building, skills training and just plain fun for all ages and abilities.
  • Cholwell Riding Stables at Mary Tavy, situated between Okehampton and Tavistock and with direct access to rides across Dartmoor. Novice and experienced riders taken, qualified tuition, hard hats. Experienced escorts open all year. 1 hour ride £22, 90 minutes ride £31 and a 2 hour ride is £40.
