When I visited Sparrowhawks and met Alison for the first time I really liked what I saw. Sparrowhawk Backpackers is a well organised hostel in barn and flowery enclosed courtyard at the rear of her house which takes groups, families and singles. With dormitory accommodation plus a double/family bedroom. Bedding is provided. Solar heated showers, bike storage, and BBQ all in.

The Hemphouse has a delightful open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area, fronted with beautiful windows looking out over the valley towards Brentor. Situated in a smallholding where Chris and Ruth have their own chickens, goats, horses and sheep and lead a very sustainable way of life. The Hemphouse has one single bedroom downstairs, with an en suite toilet and shower room. This room also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the landing area is bookended by a double bedroom on one end, and a twin bedroom on the other. There is one upstairs bathroom with sink, toilet and bath. “These are basic, without frills, solid and worthy lets. The curtains may well be slightly faded, but the welcome from Ruth and Chris is completely genuine. They want you to share their way of life, get close to their much loved livestock, go out and discover Dartmoor for yourself. Stay here and you will have a taste of the Good Life"

Hamel Down Hideaway is a semi detached cottage attached to a Grade II listed farmhouse just two miles from Widecombe. There are family ponies, friendly dogs and small children. An oasis of wild beauty and calm.

Our three adorable donkeys, ducks, rabbits, goats love a visit (plus carrot) anytime and our friendly village pub is just 10 min walk away.
The accommodation facilities at Brimpts are designed specifically to suit large groups of friends and family or businesses. The converted detached Barn offers the option of ten bedrooms, and if you are prepared to 'bunk up' Brimpts can sleep up to 32. Part of the joy of staying is the range of activities (extra cost) varying from farm tours by Landrover, 30' high climbing tower, mountain biking to orienteering. If this all sounds a bit energetic you can always opt to just chill out in the hot tub on the decking.
