There are lovely walks from the cottage, and from the car if you drive over the moors. The accommodation offers a double bedroom, a double/twin (zip-linked), and a twin room, plus double sofabed with everyday-use mattress, and a cot/small bed. There are 2 bathrooms: - The main bathroom with a shower over the bath, and the small bathroom, which has a corner toilet and studio bath, is built into the eaves of the house. Sloping ceilings and dormer windows give a clue to its former use as a row of barns. All bed linen and towels provided free. Oil CH/HW included, and free WiFi. The sunken patio has furniture and BBQ, and there is a second raised patio with table and chairs, as well as a bike storage area. Guests are very welcome to use the owners' garden. We are very dog friendly, and pets are free-of-charge. Enjoy the peace, watching the birds feeding at the bird table in the mornings, and gazing at the stars on a clear night, perhaps while enjoying a glass on wine on the sunken patio. Away from the Barn, there is lots do in this lovely area of Devon, from theme parks to waterfalls, castles to cream teas, ponies to steam railways and boat trips, gardens to zip-wires or canoeing. Route 27 of the Sustrans Coast to Coast cycle route is right outside the gate, and the track leading to the bridge over the river Tavy is also a bridle path. Bikes can be hired locally, and there are riding stables on the edge of the village for novice or experienced riders to enjoy the beautiful scenery from the saddle. There is something for everyone!

Totally Dartmoor. Small privately run bed and breakfast couldn't be more central on Dartmoor. An excellent choice for walkers. Home made evening meals in the dining room, and I know that the food is good. Dogs are very welcome to stay too. They are used to taking people 'off the road' who want to stay overnight, and then stay on for longer and longer. I'm not at all surprised.

The Hemphouse has a delightful open-plan living room, kitchen and dining area, fronted with beautiful windows looking out over the valley towards Brentor. Situated in a smallholding where Chris and Ruth have their own chickens, goats, horses and sheep and lead a very sustainable way of life. The Hemphouse has one single bedroom downstairs, with an en suite toilet and shower room. This room also contains the washing machine and tumble dryer. Upstairs, the landing area is bookended by a double bedroom on one end, and a twin bedroom on the other. There is one upstairs bathroom with sink, toilet and bath. “These are basic, without frills, solid and worthy lets. The curtains may well be slightly faded, but the welcome from Ruth and Chris is completely genuine. They want you to share their way of life, get close to their much loved livestock, go out and discover Dartmoor for yourself. Stay here and you will have a taste of the Good Life"
