Dial House Cottage is located just half a mile from the centre of Chagford. It is a detached cottage located down a shared private drive near the owners' house. A delightful place to stay.
Julia and Martin have a quality hideaway here, alongside the main house, but entirely separate, this little cottage is perfect for two. With a king size bed under oak beams and beautiful country garden plus small lake, this has to be one of my top recommendations for a romantic honeymoon on Dartmoor. The pleasant shower room is on the ground floor as the bedroom takes up most of the space up aloft. The kitchen is super too. I love it. Close enough for a steam train ride on the South Devon Railway.

Beechlands is an imposing Victorian detached house on the side of a hill with long views across the town of Chagford to moorland beyond. Inside, very much a county home, relaxed and comfortable. 2 bedroom and 3 bedroom timber clad lodges in this quiet quality campsite in a most picturesque setting alongside the River Tavy. A delightful family run site which has 125 pitches for camping and touring caravans, some static caravans and these 2 upmarket lodges. I went along to see inside them on a cold January day and was very impressed. They are modern, warm and spacious, light and spotlessly clean. Very swish indeed. Well equipped with everything from microwave to outside folding chairs to make the most of the relaxing verandah. Cox Tor has a family bathroom with shower and bath, and there is an en-suite shower room in the double bedroom. Electricity and bed linen included - just bring your own towels and tea towels. The kids will love the playpark and the riverbank. Everyone loves the resident ducks. Fly fishing available.
Pineapple Cottage is a great 'bolt hole' for two which has been stylishly renovated by its artist owner. Located just 50 yards for the lively Chagford town centre.
The Elephant's Nest Inn is a quintessentially English - and Devonshire - country pub. The 3 generously sized en-suite B&B rooms are located in a newly built extension. Beautifully furnished with solid oak floors and under floor heating, all rooms have large Vi-Spring beds, soft goosedown duvets and pillows and luxurious soft furnishings. Being located in as remote a place as it is, great emphasis is placed on good food, although the pretentious 'gastro pub' description will not be heard here! The garden at the Nest is a 'must see'.
As it says on the tin - Truly an escape from reality. Wilson Cottage is ideal for that romantic retreat. This dog-friendly accommodation offers one double bedroom with king size bed, open plan lounge with fully equipped kitchen and separate shower room. Ancient and remote with glorious views, a comfortable house that sleeps 14 – and toddlers too. It's the sort of place where you long to pull on your boots or jump on a horse and head for the horizon. This historic 400 year old Manor House, forms part of the 6 Manors of Widecombe. This important Manor has been in existence since early medieval times. It is situated half way up the hill in an isolated and quiet position, yet is within easy reach of local amenities. The views across Dartmoor and Widecombe are among the best in Devon. The property is set within its own grounds of about 30 acres and has direct access to the moor, some of which belongs to the property.
The Linhay is a 1 bedroom secluded, detached, 'upside down' cottage for two. It is situated in an excellent spot for those seeking peace, nature of a romantic hideaway.
This cosy Sticklepath cottage is situated at the rear of the owner's home, but boasts its own entrance, driveway and private patio area. The open plan living area has lovely views out to the garden, and the patio area is a perfect spot to plan the day ahead over a leisurely breakfast.
The Cottage is a 2 bedroom cottage attached to the owners' farmhouse on a 300 acre mixed farm. A very friendly and much appreciated place.
Totally Dartmoor. Small privately run bed and breakfast couldn't be more central on Dartmoor. An excellent choice for walkers. Home made evening meals in the dining room, and I know that the food is good. Dogs are very welcome to stay too. They are used to taking people 'off the road' who want to stay overnight, and then stay on for longer and longer. I'm not at all surprised.
This cosy first floor flat is situated above the ticket office at Okehampton heritage railway station, a visitors’ centre, running week-end trains. Situated at the end of the popular Granite Way trail and surrounded by beautiful countryside, this lovely flat will appeal to walkers and cyclists in particular, as well of course as railway enthusiasts.
